Turn Off the Noise

Seeking God in the Quiet

I am studying for my post master’s certificate at Holy Apostles College. One of the classes that I took this semester was Catechetics (with a dynamite teacher, Sr. Mary Anne Linder, FSE). This class was helpful and inspiring for all of us who are teaching CCD in the local parishes.

For our final project we had to read C.S. Lewis’s Screwtape Letters and rewrite one of the letters in a creative way. With the help of my tech savvy sister, my artistic mother and talented niece and nephews, I put together a stop-motion video highlighting some of the themes from Letter VII.

I know that the Holy Spirit was the main director because this video came out better than I could have ever imagined.

I’m so excited to share this video with you! I hope it could be used as a unique catechetical tool in the classroom and that the message could be spread far and wide (go the the youtube page for an explanation of the video).

I would love to hear what you think of the video. Please leave me your feedback.

Enjoy!

Robyn, this was simple, wonderful and at the same time very powerful.  It was very relevant in todays society,  when technology gives children so many distractions that can become hindrances to quiet times to think about God and how He should be present in our lives.  Great job done by all!

I love this.  The way you used todays popular music to make your point and the popular distractions of today really make it relevant.  Great job Robyn and all participants.

Thanks so much for sharing! I really enjoyed it and of course the message is so pertinent! I know I needed to be reminded of this as I allow too many such distractions in my own life…This sounds like a great course!

Awesome! And a great Advent reminder. wink

Thank you so much for sharing.  I can’t wait to share this with my children, since this is often a topic I discuss with them - the need for quiet to be with God so that we can listen and just be.

I loved it!  It’s so relevant for today’s society! There is way too much noise in our world today.  I want to share it with my husband!  Very Very Good!

Love it.

Awesome! Love it!!!

I prefer written documents over video or audio files…since I review these at work.  However, just the mention of “quiet” is a good reminder for me.

My two youngest sons and I watched this twice!  We really enjoyed it and could relate how the devil tempts us all with the computer, tv, phone, music, etc.  It’s a constant struggle to do what we should and pray as we ought. Thank you for reminding us.  Watching a dead fire is a very apt description of the internet, don’t you think?

An awesome video!  I have already shared it! Well done!

My kids and I just watched this video and loved it!  I had to send an email to my elderly mother who is struggling with her obsessive use with all her computers and iphones.

So! Awesome! Great job, Robyn. I love those sweet faces and I am so impressed with your video skills. A+

This was just perfect. Great job girl!

Thank you for sharing this! I watched it with my older boys and husband. It is perfect timing for us, and a wonderful message as we allow too much noise in our lives. Merry Christmas!

Great reminder. Thanks Be to God for big families.

Not able to see the video!

Maybe try going directly to the youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51WFaBl5RQQ&feature=player_embedded
The problem might be with the settings on your computer. Hope you are able to view it!

A job well done, Robyn!  Very cool. The kids faces actually brought tears to my eyes!

Father Simon had favorable comments about you and what you hope to accomplish.  I agree. Job well done. I’ll use the video in my 8th grade CCD class.  Keep up the good work.  Chef Luke, L.C. College, Cheshire, CT.
