Would You Wear This Sweater? 2011

Says You: would you wear this Sweater of Light?

Welcome to the 2011 Edition of Would You Wear This Sweater?

At first glance, this one may seem kind of tame in comparison with previous editions.

Before you answer: you should know that each of the snowmen depicted on this sweater is sporting a Christmas sweater of his own.

And those sweaters are “showcasing the beloved Victorian imagery of Thomas Kinkade.”

Click the link to see a close-up.

So now: would you wear this sweater?

As always, you are among friends; we won’t judge you.

Yes, I’d wear it, but NOT at that price!!! Only if I found it in a re-sale shop for about $5…then I’d get it. Or, if you buy it for me, yes I would wear it. wink

I used to wear a Christmassy sweater but it was red with some kind of decorations on it…and then I started watching What Not to Wear and they absolutely despise those types of things!  I can kind of see their point—it’s a bit cheesy and kind of silly for an adult. There are so many other ways to dress festively, that I think I would rather choose one of those—like a nice scarf with decorations on it or a red blouse with a nice jacket. So, no thanks on the holiday sweater. smile

Now we know what to give Simcha Fisher for Christmas!!!

Hush! You’ll spoil the surprise!

Nooo, it’ll sour her milk supply.

I smell a group gift in the makin’!  “To Simcha, From your F&FL; family, with love and light…”

I was going to say that I agree with Simcha about Thomas Kinkade. Blech!

And I don’t like “Christmas” sweaters in general, although an old-fashioned snowflake or reindeer sweater would suit me just fine.

I would wear it only if I got it for free and I was wearing it working with a class full of preschoolers.

I don’t think it’s possible to say “no” vehemently enough.

Never. And especially not at that price. And even free, never.

No way, Jose. smile

No, ma’am, I certainly would not.

Maybe with a shirt over the top of it, cause the sleeves aren’t so bad.

No. Never…but I will chip in for that extra-special-Christmas surprise for Simcha.

Me too!

My thoughts, exactly, PamL!

It is cute. The price is atrocious! I belong to the Jesus, Mary and St. Joseph crowd. Poor. Poorer, and Poorest. The thrift shop idea of $5.00 for that sweater is a more sane marketable price. One or two washes and that sweater is going to look like all your other clothes. Thomas Kinkade is a gifted artist. Yet a sweater is a sweater. Unless you can afford to buy it, and pay to have it dry cleaner, regular people will not buy it unless it’s at a thrift store. If you are a mother of 11 kids, and a prolific Catholic; a thrift store is where you will shop.

I will admit to loving Christmas sweaters tho’ my dh has made clear his limits of acceptance (more in quality of sweater as opposed to depiction).

But - as others have said - cost and quality would make the difference.  Can I get on clearance in January to save to next year?  Will it endure countless washings, sticky toddler hands, cookie making, tree decorating or would it dissolve, pill or shrink on the first wash.

It’s not the snowmen that are the issue…I like the snowmen.

Aww it’s kinda cute (but 119 bucks? seriously?!)

I dunno, it might not win be any “best seasonal dresser” awards but I’ll bet I’d get lots of snuggly hugs and kisses out of it

not with the Kinkade on the snowmen, blah.  I would wear it as a winter shirt but not for Christmas.

I could not afford it, but it is cute… perhaps because I am 64, a more mellow : )

maybe when I was 12….. not now.

I thought the sweater was wintery with the theme let it snow…The price is too much, but I would wear it if I received it as a gift.  Sweaters like this make people smile…

blech.  and blech.  and BLECH once more.
my husband has a fun Christmas sweatshirt (originally is dad’s in the late ‘70s). It simply says “HO! (Repeat 3 Times)”

)

I would not buy this sweater even if it were cheapter because I try not to buy too many seasonal clothes that take up room.  I am partial to Christmas socks, however, and wear a pair for several years till they wear out.  If I was given this as a gift, I would probably pass it along at a White Elephant gift exchange.  If you like Thomas Kinkade, purchase a painting!

ditto on the socks!  I have a pair with snowmen… that’s enough “cute-sie” clothes for me!  (Although I am thinking about snowflake earrings this year… my toddler would be fascinated to see them!)

Not for $119.

If someone gave it to me as a gift, yes.

(I do have a box of Christmas/Winter sweaters and sweatshirts.)

No, price. No, the picture would wear off too quick (I have found washing such wear inside out helps). No, it doesn’t look like it would keep me warm enough.

If TJ Maxx/Marshalls had it for 2/3 off price…“a great big huge iffy”.

I would wear it, but not for $130!  Especially if I were teaching.  Kids love that stuff.

I LOVE it! I would wear it…I’m sure I have something like it already in the closet!!!

Yikes! But I do have several loved ones who would wear it, all much older than me!

I think it’s cute but I probably wouldn’t wear it. Not my style. But I love Thomas Kinkade so I don’t understand what you ladies hate about him. His paintings are really pretty.

no-navy isn’t my color…

No way.  I’m with the seasonal scarf or socks crowd.

I would wear it—but would not spend that much money for it…..I miss the snow and miss making snowmen so I think it is kind of cute and brings back good memories.  I’m 69 so I can “get away” with wearing it…ha ha.
