Madonna, Marianne Stokes
God’s Face took on a human face, letting itself be seen and recognized in the Son of the Virgin Mary, who for this reason we venerate with the loftiest title of “Mother of God.” She, who had preserved in her heart the secret of the divine motherhood, was the first to see the face of God made man in the small fruit of her womb. The Mother had a very special, unique and, in... READ MORE
Filling Our Empty Churches

The headline reads, “Archdiocese Turns to Evangelizing,” and reports a new plan for getting Catholics in Boston—only about 16% of whom attend Sunday Mass regularly—back to Church.
I blush to read it.
On the one hand, of course I’m delighted whenever anyone takes up “the new evangelization” in earnest.
What’s “new” about the new evangelization is that its focus is not mission territory in the classic... READ MORE
Fatima Comes to Boston

Since October is the month of the Rosary, and October 13th is the anniversary of what I like to call The Day God proved His Existence to the World (aka the miracle of the sun), I thought it would be a good idea to tell you about my husband’s job.
Bill is the escort of the National Pilgrim Virgin of Our Lady of Fatima. This statue was given to the World Apostolate of Fatima (formerly known as the... READ MORE
Spend a Moment with Mary

In my email this morning was a special gift for the occasion of the Assumption of Mary. In big letters, the email asked me, “Do you have one minute?” Today is a busy day, with the normal Monday schedule, Mass for the Feast of the Assumption, a dentist appointment for one teen, high school orientation and much more—but I decided I DID have one minute and clicked over to check out www.MarianMinute.org.... Feast of the Assumption

Father in heaven, all creation rightly gives you praise, for all life and all holiness come from you. In the plan of your wisdom she who bore the Christ in her womb was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven. May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness and join in her hymn of endless love and praise. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Background of the traditional blessing of herbs.
A super yummy rosemary bread recipe to try.
And lots more information and celebration here.
What do you see?

Over at his blog yesterday, the wonderful Patrick Madrid posted the following video and invited his readers to ponder what they see in it. I have to say that even before I watched the video, I assumed it was a hoax. For some sad reason, I am very hesitant when it comes to these types of things—but I also wonder if I would have felt the same had I been present at Lourdes, at Knock or at Fatima. How about you—do you find these potential apparitions believable, or like me are you predisposed to disbelieve?
