Infinity Blade conceived as a Kinect game
32
If you've played iOS slasher Infinity Blade as much as us, you've probably spent some of your finger-callous massaging sessions thinking, "Why couldn't I be hacking up the God King in the completely callous-free world of Kinect?"
Believe it or not, developer Chair Entertainment is way ahead of you ... and even ahead of itself, in a sense, according to co-founder Donald Mustard.
"We always have some cool ideas on deck, and kind of the inception of Infinity Blade began as a discussion around: 'If we were going to make a Kinect title, what would we make? What would a Chair Kinect game look like?'," Mustard revealed. "That discussion happened, you know, a year and a half ago. We had this really cool design, and it's not that dissimilar from the game you're playing today; it's just been refined and adapted to the iOS screen, which honestly I think is where the design works the best."
Mustard made clear that Infinity Blade isn't a Kinect game rejiggered for iOS so much as an idea sparked by Microsoft's device that found its home on iOS platforms. That said, Chair isn't closing any doors to Infinity Blade on Xbox 360.
"Yeah," co-founder Geremy Mustard added, "if the Kinect really takes off over the holiday season, who knows?"

@Billlop Yeah, this could be done well on the Move. Or the Wii. In fact, probably to better effect--at least if it was a straight port. The Wii and Move give you something to hold on to, and also something to "click" in order to do the lame stuff like open chests >_>
And it's not like going controllerless would provide any advantages. That said, even without any particular advantages over wii/move, it would still work well. IB is just not that complex of a control setup, and is the perfect thing for a Move/Wiimote/Kinect. Ironically, it would suck on a traditional gamepad!

That doesn't sound like too bad of an idea. Even though I do not own a Kinect myself due to the limited amount of room I have. I can easily see this being a fun Xbox Live Arcade game for the ones that do own one.

where does it say anything about it being ported to the 360? if anything, i imagine chair would make an infinity blade just for the 360 that utilizes kinect. these are the guys that made shadow complex, correct? i think they definitely have the know-how to make this work on the 360.

i am open to the idea if they take the time to consider the strengths of the kinect like they did with infinity blade. They understood the reason people play iphone games and what keeps people entertain on the iphone. They understood that the really fun and enjoyable games on the iphone are the ones that use the touch screen as their key component. So if they take their time i would be open to the idea.

who wants infinity blade? have you guys played it? it's not that great. the framerate sucks and it's not that fun. the iPhone isn't powerful enough for the game.
