I have fond memories playing SF2 in arcades. Oddly enough, I was actually reminiscing on a few times in particular earlier today at work. However, even though I've bought a few games through the ages here and there such as Alpha 3 and SF4, it will never feel as good as when I was younger. :/ Good times.....
It downloaded just fine for me. Unfortunately it's not all that fun. I was thinking it would be pretty fun for my kids to play with, but there's no local play. You can play against the computer or other friends that have the game. Also the "fights" are kind of disappointing. With all that went into the animation and style, you really hope there will be some punches or something thrown, but sadly, that doesn't happen. It's all pretty anticlimactic. Just a 'you win' or 'you lose'. It also takes a while to load the "fight". I'll hold onto it because with a proper update it could actually be fun. And...it's free.
Gotta love how it has to be a particular Microsoft cable. Not to get into the console war, but I recently did a system transfer on the ps3 with a run of the mill Ethernet cable. Worked perfectly.
@laser beams I was disappointed by the demo. The graphics were great, but I thought the gameplay was pretty lacking. That'd be fine if it had a good story to help, but I hear it's pretty nonsensical.
And now that the market is oversaturated in gritty shooters, they should revisit that idea. It would be nice to play a decent Tolkien inspired game, seeing as how no one can make a good game completely based off Tolkiens work.
It's fine for you to be excited about the game, and if you wish to spend your time with it, that's fine. But don't be so defensive about the statements Mtor made. The game is a WoW clone. The press knows it, every beta tester knows it, and Bioware, as stated above, fully acknowledges it. If you haven't grinded your life away in WoW already, you'll probably really enjoy this game. If you have, and have tried every other major "competitor" MMO, you're going to be disappointed in this game, unless your love for Star Wars is big enough to fill the disappointment of the game itself. I was disappointed, and my hope now lies soley in Guild Wars 2. Others have hope for the Secret World, but I don't see any success coming out of that game, most likely another FunCom flop. I hope you can find joy out of this game however.
