  1. Viewed strictly as a videogame, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception represents the height of technical achievement--the state-of-the-art, if you will--for the interactive console experience. [Holiday 2011, p.49]

Uncharted 3 isn't quite as memorable as its predecessor, but that doesn't mean it isn't one of the best games to come out this year.

Two years after Thieves, Uncharted's gameplay mechanics and conventions are no longer dated; they're borderline archaic.

After how good Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was, I wasn't sure if Naughty Dog would be able to match it with the sequel. But not do they match it, Uncharted 3 does almost everything that Among Thieves did better. The campaign was the best I've ever played despite only being nine hours long. There are so many unforgettable moments in it and it is driven by an captivating story line with several unexpected twists along the way. The online multiplayer is also much better this time around, this is mainly because of how good the maps are, and the Co-Op is also surprisingly good. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception has the best campaign you'll find in any game and one of the best online modes you'll find, not that you need any more reasons to buy this game, but it also has the best graphics around. From single-player to multiplayer Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is flawless. Expand

  2. I enjoyed this game but feel like nothing was groundbreaking or innovative at all. Its very similar to uncharted 2, the gameplay is ok, but it really tries to bank off of its cinematics. Which is why i would just watch a movie instead of trying to play a game that is trying to be a movie, call me old school but i like a challenging video GAME. And really an old lady as a villain that was just lame to me. Expand

The graphics and audio all contribute to the overall effect of the game, however the actual gameplay is problematic. If you're staggered by an explosion, enemies can shoot you, even if your character is clearly in cover. The new combat is more cinematic, but creates a lot of problems (I can't count the amount of times I tried to roll from an armored soldier, but ended up pushing them instead). The game is also somewhat short. Even on the hardest difficulty, the game is somewhat easy, with most of your deaths coming from the inconsistent platforming (There were times where Drake could jump off 10-20m drops with no issue, but other times where he would die falling 3 meters). The melee combat is flawed, with no real way to exit combat, or cancel into other moves like the previous 2 games. There are times where the game feels like it's just throwing enemies at you for the sake of making it more difficult, only to have it be incredibly annoying. Naughty Dog attempted to create large environments to wander in, but all that creates is a confusing, linear path. Expand
