Not sure how good the "good news" is. That quote looks no different from your usual generic company talk that look like they (fruitlessly) try to reassure consumers that they won't truly die.

"We will continue development for product ______ based on customer demand" essentially means those stuff are dead for good in some cases.

While this isn't good news to me, I'd say I wouldn't miss Hudson too much, given how their later games later than the early 2000s failed to appeal to me.

But, the Good News...

Lucario and Ike were part of the main SSE gameplay so the other two got cut instead.

Then why Wolf as a new clonish character instead of Roy? Because this is a half-assed theory

Confirmed: Wolf and Lucas replaced Mewtwo and Roy. =P

Here's the bottom line. Roy and Pichu were cut and were not relevant anymore. Ike and Lucario were put in when they were. This is undeniable. Whether or not they were meant to serve as a replacement doesn't matter. What matters is that they serve that role regardless.

Still, the whole "Forbidden 7" thing backs me up on this. If "Pra-Mai" or whatever was supposed to be Plusle & Minun, as rumor holds, and then they didn't get put in, something happened. I mean, Brawl was under construction since before Lucario was introduced officially. So what are the most likely reasons that Sakurai's team would say "You know, let's just go with the Saiyan Anubis instead." The reasons amount to "They started heavy programming and it proved too glitchy" and "Diamond & Pearl came out." Olimar and the Ice Climbers are playable, so it's not likely that Plusle & Minun were all that huge of a problem in programming. But not being relevant anymore? That's a bit more likely.

Now, is there any legitimate confirmation? No. So we can only assume that Plusle & Minun weren't put in, and that Roy and Pichu were cut, because they were no longer relevant. That's the only theory that seems to hold much water.

Sorry to bump this but I decided to skip Pokemon for now. I moved on to the Mother series (really freaking easy to find) then Fire Emblem (also really easy) and now I'm stuck on Wario.

It seems Gameboy Games give me trouble. I can never find an arranged version of these 8-Bit tunes.

But yes does any one know some good remixes of the Wario Land trilogy?

That said: Lucario will probably abdicate his throne for a Gen. 5 Pokemon. It might sound like crap, but really, that's how it goes. Gen. 5 is out right now. Gen. 4 is not. Lucario isn't relevant anymore, he's gonna get shunted out. I'm a bit surprised (and delighted) that Jigglypuff lasted this long, but she seems to be the exception to the rule. In all other cases, the newer version replaced the older one. Roy and Pichu, for example When Melee came out, it was Sword of Seals and Gold/Silver that were relevant. Time passed. Games were released. Brawl came out, and they were gone, replaced by the more relevant Ike and Lucario, since Path of Radiance and Diamond/Pearl were relevant. When SSB4 is out, they'll go too, presumably to be replaced by representatives from Awakening and Black/White. When more time passes, they, too, will be replaced. That's how it goes.
Cuts have only really happened once so far, so we can't really guarantee anything yet. Roy was planned for Brawl, but was cut due to time constraints. Pichu was probably cut since not many people cared about it. I think it is likely that Plusle & Minun (who was likely part of the Forbidden Seven) was intended as the replacement, but they scrapped that idea. So I'm not really thinking that Pichu or Roy were ever intended on being replaced by Lucario or Ike.

I do agree in that I would love to see Victini in Smash. It's my personal pick for a 5th gen rep. :)

Here's one, in Luigi raceway, a bunch of Mario characters show up in the audience near the checkpoint. Among them are Goombas, Shy Guys (red, green, and blue), Monty Moles, Boos, Toads (blue and green), Birdos, and Koopa Troopas. Can anybody see what else? There appears to be more...

Edit: There are definitely Hammer Bros. there too, I think I confused them for the Koopas.

I fully expect a heavily lampshaded and over-the-top power of heart speech. Given how light-hearted (and how much of an anime parody) this game's shaping up to be, it seems like the sort of joke that would demand being done.
