About Shugo Chara

Amu Hinamori is a 5th grade transfer student who is fashionably cool, tough and independent. Despite this, she is also a girl who seems unapproachable, both at home and at school. In reality, the "Cool and Spicy" role she plays is just a facade that she unconsciously plays. In fact, like most other girls, Amu is childish, timid and romantic. Desperate to behave the way she really feels, she goes to bed one night praying for a miracle to happen. Much to her surprise, she wakes up the following morning to find three decorated eggs on her. From that morning on, Amu is shocked to find herself starting to behave the way she really feels. When each egg hatches, a little Guardian Character emerges to help Amu express her different selves; Ran, Miki, and Su. he Guardian Characters aid Amu in discovering who she truly is and help fulfill Amu's dreams. Amu's life becomes much more complex as she struggles to deal with her "would-be" selves and the Seiyo Elementary's Guardians, who recruit Amu to search for X Eggs and X Characters, the corrupted forms of peoples' dreams.
To Amu's further surprise, she is invited to join her school's Student Council called, "The Guardians". She then discovers that this group is, in fact, made up of students who all have eggs similar to hers.
What is happening? Amu's adventure has just begun!
The Easter Company is extracting people's eggs in search of a special egg called the Embryo. The Embryo is believed to able to grant any wish to the one who possesses it. However, the process creates X Eggs and X Characters.
Amu's three Guardian Characters, Ran, Miki, and Su, aid her in her quest of self-discovery. Each Guardian Character represents an aspect of Amu's true self. Ran represents Amu's desire to be more honest and athletic, Miki represents Amu's desire to be more level headed and artistic, while Su represents Amu's desire to be more caring and improve her domestic skills. Moreover, the Character Guardians are more than mere mascots who help Amu learn about her true self. They can also perform a transformation where Amu's personality is replaced by an entirely different one.
However, Amu is not the only one with Guardian Characters. Each of the Guardians—Tadase Hotori, Nadeshiko Fujisaki, Kukai Soma, and Yaya Yuiki—have their own Guardian Characters. Amu also encounters Ikuto Tsukiyomi and Utau Hoshina, two siblings who also have Guardian Characters and are employed by the Easter Company to search for the Embryo.

Amu Hinamori voiced by Kanae Itou
Amu is a fifth grader at Seiyo Elementary, who is misunderstood by her classmates as "cool and spicy," due to her extreme shyness and timid personality, and also the trendy goth punk clothing her mother buys for her. One night, as she wishes for the courage to be reborn as her would-be self, three eggs appear on her bed, which hatch into Amu's three Guardian Characters Ran, Miki, and Su. Because of them, Amu become a member of the Guardians, the school's student council, where she takes part as the Joker, whose role is to search for and purify X Eggs and X Characters.
Nadeshiko Fujisaki voiced by Saeko Chiba
A student in the same year as Amu and serves as Queen's Chair of the Guardians.
When Amu rejected the offer to join the Guardians, Nadeshiko tries several tactics to convince Amu to join. The two become best friends and Nadeshiko looks over and supports Amu in her love life.
Utau Hoshina voiced by Nana Mizuki
A junior high student who is an idol singer.
Ikuto Tsukiyomi voiced by Yuichi Nakamura
A teenage boy in high school contracted by Easter to find the Embryo, whose actual motivation behind seeking the Embryo is to leave Easter. He tries to steal Amu's eggs when they first encounter each other. He possesses the Dumpty Key which pairs with Amu's Humpty Lock.
Miki Shugo Chara voiced by Nanae Katou
The second Guardian Character to hatch from Amu's eggs. She is sharp, level headed, and very artistic. She also advises Amu on her fashion. During Character Transformation, Amu becomes Amulet Spade.
Tadase Hotori voiced by Reiko Takagi
A boy in the same year as Amu and serves as King's Chair of the Guardians. He is Amu's love interest. When Amu was attacked by Ikuto, he saves her. Popular with girls, they call him the prince of the school, but whenever he hears the term "prince", his character changes into an egotistical king character. Like Amu, he is also very shy, and he also wished to be his would-be self.
Daichi Shugo Chara voiced by Hiroyuki Yoshino
Kukai's Guardian Character. He is very active and very good at sports. He was born when Kukai wished to play many sports but had to choose. During Character Transformation, Kukai and Daichi become Sky Jack.
Dia Shugo Chara voiced by Kanae Ito
The forth Guardian Character, who represents Amu's desire to be recognized by the others. She is also the strongest among Amu's Guardian Characters.
Kiseki Shugo Chara voiced by Kaya Miyake
Tadase's Guardian Character who represents Tadase's desire to be stronger and the dream of world domination.
Pepe Shugo Chara voiced by Kimiko Koyama
Yaya's baby-like Gaurdian Character. She was born from Yaya's desire to remain child-like, if not baby-like. During Character Transformation, Yaya and Pepe become Dear Baby.
Ran Shugo Chara voiced by Kana Asumi
The first Guardian Character to hatch from Amu's eggs. She is honest, confident and very athletic. During Character Transformation, Amu becomes Amulet Heart.
Kukai Soma voiced by Atsushi Abe
He is one year senior to Amu and serves as the Jack's Chair of the Guardians. He is upbeat and the energetic captain of the soccer club, and helped Amu with her training as a new member of the Guardians.
Su Shugo Chara voiced by Aki Toyosaki
The third Guardian Character, who is exceptionally good at cooking, but a little clumsy. During Character Transformation, Amu becomes Amulet Clover.
Temari Shugo Chara voiced by Ryouka Yuzuki
Nadeshiko's Guardian Character. She represents Nadeshiko's desire to be more mannered and become a Japanese dancer. During Character Transformation, Nadeshiko and Temari become Yamato Maihime.
