FEATURE: Fanart Friday, Home Library Edition

Unfortunately, you're stuck with me instead of the stereotypical hot librarian

Fanart Friday returns, believing 2012 to be the gospel truth and terrified that California's going to fall into the ocean. Goofy movie, but man, such a fun movie too.

After last week's retrospective, we start the new year off by looking through Crunchyroll's Anime Library--specifically our newest acquisitions and the most popular series that people are watching.

DISCLAIMER:  None of the art presented is the property of myself or Crunchyroll.  All characters and series are tm and © their respective creators and corporate owners.  All art is the creative property of their respective artists.  Any artists who wish to have their work removed from this article may contact me, and appropriate action will be immediately taken.

And what better way to start with CR's newest acquisition, the creepy-looking horror-mystery Another?

ffnaruto

by ナサムト

I remember one of CR's most popular series having something to do with ninja who are less "ninja" and more "superpowered martial arts recon soldiers." What was it called again?

ffchihaya

by mrsloth

Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to get a huge spike in Karuta interest from Chihayafuru, but it's still a beautiful series that I really need to see more of.

ffbleach

There was some other popular series that CR had--something about magic ghost samurai who fought a bunch of Spanish-speaking demons, and is now eerily reenacting the Chapter Black portion of Yu Yu Hakusho.

ffarea

The Knight in the Area is probably my favorite of the new additions to CR's winter lineup. We need more sports anime!

ffes21

by 山猫

Knowing anime fans' general aversion to sports (and football in particular, for some reason), it's very nice to see Eyeshield 21 near the top of CR's popularity list.

Of course, now there's two ways to get your shounen sports fix in the new season, with The Prince of Tennis II joining the ranks. Will there be more dinosaur-killing this time around?

ffgin

Another series that I'm glad to see (in the top three, no less) is Gintama, which I honestly never thought would catch on here. Gintoki's Jump addiction is... kind of realistic, honestly.

ffnatsume

by 夏生

Speaking of manga addiction, my roommate can build a fort with how many issues of LaLa she's purchased... which is probably why I'm more familiar with Natsume Yujin-cho's manga (and furoku!) than the anime.

ffhorizon

by Li@

I always wonder why anime shows a girl's belly button through a skin-tight outfit. Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere certainly doesn't help answer my question.

ffsekai

While it's not quite as much of an eye-opener as the possibility of Nathan Drake being gay, it's great to see Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi as popular as it is--I already knew this industry was full of bromantic tension.

ffstar

by やまとみぁ

As an unapologetically awesome magical boy + mecha series with mind-meltingly epic combat, Star Driver is really good at making you say "just one more episode," and then you look at the time and it's 4am and you've finished the series in a day.

This is the single best piece of Skip Beat! art I've ever seen. It's also very accurate about the series as a whole.

So if you need something new to watch in the coming season, there's a baker's dozen of suggestions, new and old! Make sure to drop by next week when we start another two-week theme! And if any of you have any art, send it my way, and I'll make sure you appear in a future Fanart Friday!

This is all FANART?!

Well, hats off to you, creators of these images - and I DO, in fact, wear a hat. These pictures.. images.. whatever you want to call them - are superb. So superb, that it makes me think twice about how I consider the term, 'fanart'.

Or am I misinterpreting something?
Need to check out Skip Beat!...
German suplex Moko?! That's just rich.
The Gintama one is my fave--really cute (even though I'm not really a Gintama fan.
And the Natsume pic..........
I guess that's why people keeps asking if it's a yaoi series.
GINTAMA!!! so cute, and Natsume yuujin-chou was awesome too! >//////<
haha lol i wonder what kyoko did to moko xDD.. also chihayafuru rocks
The Skip Beat art is just awesome :)
The Bleach is beautiful and the Skip Beat mad me burst out laughing. :D
Loved the Star Driver fanart ;D
This is all so amazing! *0*
bleach has always resembled yu yu
It's also resembled Saint Seiya--the Soul Society arc was very similar to the Sanctuary War in the original Saint Seiya, even down to replacing Gold Saints (who later became allies) with the Captain Class (who also later became allies).

Not a bad thing, but Bleach does draw from a huge pool of similar shounen series.
Lol I knew I wasn't the only one that thought Bleach was copying the chapter Black arc from Yu Yu Hakusho. (and a lot of other things)
Wow all of them are awesome XD I love all these anime series too ^^
Kyouko getting suplexed. Wonderful.
Heheh, I also really love the Gintama picture. It was really well done. >w<
Gaah! Star Driver is another anime not available here. I had to watch Haruhi in low res on some other website because of the reigon thing!
This makes me want to watch Star Driver.
OMG I LOVE THIS BATCH OF FANART!!!
