LucasFilm is drumming up marketing support for its first 3D Star Wars theatrical released, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is adding the third dimension to all six films over the coming years, starting with the February 10th release. But the saga begins today as the Brisk mobile game app, Brisksaber, brings the iconic Star Wars lightsaber battles to smartphones. The free app will feature a progression of content that allows fans to incrementally unlock new characters and objects based on the nationwide redemption of codes found on specially marked packages of one-liter Brisk Iced Tea.

Director and writer Paul Anderson has wrapped principal photography for his second 3D videogame adaptation, Resident Evil: Retribution, according to his wife and star of the Sony Screen Gems film franchise, Milla Jovovich. With the movie set hit theaters September 14, 2014, Jovovich provided an exclusive look at the set of the new movie in the cool video below.

Japanese game giant Square Enix is making its way to Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) this year. The game maker is setting up shop at the Palms Resort and Casino in one of the exclusive Fantasy Suites. Square Enix will showcase its biggest titles of 2012, including IO Interactive’s Hitman: Absolution, the PlayStation Vita launch title Army Corps of Hell, the puzzle game Quantum Conundrum and Final Fantasy XIII-2. Warner Bros. Pictures is set to release the first part of director Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14, 2012. The 3D epic is being shot in collaboration with 3ality Technica in New Zealand. One of the big movies of 2012, the first trailer for The Hobbit is below. And you can bet that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has a new game set in this movie universe coming in time for Christmas.

After weeks of voting, Major League Gaming (MLG) Pro Players have chosen the best of 2011.  MLG has revealed the winners of the 2011 MLG Pros’ Choice Awards. Pros voted on each other in various categories across three MLG 2011 Pro Circuit titles - Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Halo: Reach to determine the best of the best. The Stride Longest Lasting Player awards went to Naniwa (Starcraft II), Jkap (Call of Duty: Black Ops) and Pistola (Halo: Reach), while the breakout player awards were given to Leenock (Starcraft II), John (Call of Duty: Black Ops) and Formal (Halo: Reach).

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is experiencing record sales for Rockstar Studios’ critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham City this Christmas season. And the new trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ The Dark Knight Rises has smashed the record for most combined downloads through the iTunes Movie Trailers site and the iTunes Trailers iOS app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The trailer was viewed more than 12.5 million times in its first 24 hours on December 19, breaking the previous record by well over two million. The HD trailer can be viewed below.

Epic Games’s Chair Entertainment has had great success with its Infinity Blade franchise, which now includes a hit novella from Brandon Sanderson, a soundtrack, and two games.
