Symphonic Odysseys

Anybody got it?  Getting it?

The early recordings I heard didn't overwhelm me but since both Symphonic Shades and Symphonic Fantasies grew on me considerably over time (and the album for the latter a big improvement over the early recording) I'm still considering it.

is the Dog Ear Records print going to be the only printing? I was wondering if Europe would get its own release or if it'll exclusively be the Japanese printing.

Trying to save money on shipping and I tend to do better coming out of Germany opposed to Japan. tongue

According to the VGMdb thread there won't be a separate European release but Maz Sound Tools will be retailing the Japanese release in Europe.

Looking at the converted price in USD and the worldwide shipping rates the price doesn't look very different from Play-Asia though.

I had a bunch of CDJ points I had to redeem so I ended up picking this for like 18$ shipped, I'll let you know when I get it what I think of it!

I have it but not have had a chance to listen to it yet.  Will try to soon.

mine will come in 1-2 days from maz. i'm going in fresh, so im pretty edgy.

got mine. it's the japanese release as expected, there is no other version out there. there is some japanese text in the liner notes, but most of it is made up of nice photos of the performance.

i'm not very familiar with most of this music, so it might take some spins to get warm with it. it's the first time i've heard anything about King's Knight, for example. but i'm sure it will grow on me, the production is excellent.

but i could've done without the audience applauding three times in 30 minutes at the end of disc 2.

It's great, but I have to say this is a headphone album, unless you have your own house. It's like a whisper at some moments and a whirlwind at others. I could nearly endlessly listen to tracks 2-4 on disc 1. I haven't delved into disc 2 yet.

And orchestral version of King's Knight.

What is this...I don't even...

It's called dynamic range (the thing that got lost during the loudness war). Apply some DRC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression) if necessary.
