Description: An assortment of delicious liquorice sweets, loved by all the family

Product range: Liquorice Allsorts, Red Allsorts

Bassetts liquorice allsorts

 Brand history:
Liquorice Allsorts were discovered by  chance in 1899 when a Bassett's employee Charles Thompson accidentally  dropped various kinds of sweets when demonstrating to a wholesaler.  The buyer liked the assortment so much that he asked how much it would be to buy the batch in that form.

Bertie Bassett was born on 1 January 1929 and has no plans for retirement despite being in his 80s.  Bertie Bassett became the face of Liquorice Allsorts and Bassett’s around the world, and in 1987 a unique Bertie-only sweet commemorated his popularity.

Within each packet of Bassett's Liquorice Allsorts you will find seven different varieties- coconut chips, buttons, cream rock, sandwiches, cubes, Battenberg and of course always one Bertie.  Alongside the original flavoured Liquorice Allsorts, Bassett’s have also got creative with Fruity and Dessert varieties in the past.

In 2009, Betty Bassett was introduced to become the face of Red Liquorice Allsorts.

Brand value: The total Bassett's brand is worth approximately £60 million in the UK.

To celebrate Bertie’s 80th birthday, Bertie married his sweetheart Betty Bassett in our Sheffield factory (where Bassett’s are produced) on 12 February 2009.  Colleagues who work at our Sheffield site joined in with the celebrations and attended the wedding as guests and the best man!
