Say one thing about anime, it rarely lets a good idea go to waste. If something worked once, there's a good chance you'll see it again. A new Japanese fan MAD video, titled "←←↑↑↓↓→→²," collects a whole lot of examples of anime's habitual reuse.

It does cheat a bit with the inclusion of homage, parody and running gags, but it still makes its point.
