In a world left without political leaders, only the generals remain. Suring the SpikeTV “Video Game Awards”, BioWare, a Label of Electronic Arts, announced the studio’s newest project, Command & Conquer Generals 2. Powered by Frostbite 2, Generals 2 will feature cutting-edge visuals, sound, and destruction that will bring a new level of fidelity to strategy games.

Minecraft...it's an addiction in itself.  The retro-flavored action game has addicted millions of people thus far, and is even holding its own event, Minecon, next month in Las Vegas, Nevada.  But now it looks like it's going to cross over to a new platform, and a whole new level of addiction, as the game is set to hit the Xbox 360 early next year.  And those of you attending Minecon will get a chance to see what it's like.

The 2011 MLG Pro Circuit season has been record breaking with the largest prize purse to date, the most epic crowds, and millions tuning in from around the globe to watch the competition Live online.  The competition continues this weekend as top pro players, aspiring amateurs, and thousands of video game fans return to the sunshine state for the Major League Gaming (MLG) Orlando Pro Circuit, marking the seventh time MLG has held an event in Orlando, Florida.  October 14-16, competitors from around the globe will battle in the last Pro Circuit before the 2011 championship for more than $120,000 in prizes playing Blizzard Entertainment’s blockbuster real-time strategy game, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty on PC, the record-setting Call of Duty: Black Ops on PlayStation 3, and the popular Halo: Reach on Xbox 360.

Downloadable content for Capybara Games' critically acclaimed Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is now available for all platforms (minus the Nintendo DS). It apparently adds 4 new generals - and their spells, of course - to the roster, off or online. At $2.99, publisher Ubisoft is presenting it at less than a buck a boss! 

There’s now something new to tide over fans of bestselling author George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones). In addition to the complete first season of the hit HBO TV series now available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, there’s a new PC real-time strategy (RTS) game, A Game of Thrones – Genesis, from developer Cyanide and publisher Focus Home Interactive. Gamers will be able to explore the eight Houses of Westeros and prepare for the final battle for the Iron Throne.

Cologne -- The International, the inaugural Dota 2 Championships held at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany over the past five days, has concluded with team Na'Vi from Ukraine taking first place and the $1 million grand prize. The event was viewed by millions via the live broadcasts, and the live audiences via the tournament at Gamescom swelled to fill the enormous International pavilion and surrounding area of Hall 7 on the final days.

Ubisoft has released one of the big downloadable games of 2011. The critically-acclaimed strategy game, From Dust, is now available on Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade. Developed by Eric Chahi and a team at Ubisoft Montpellier, From Dust is currently available for 1200 Microsoft Points.
