Notch creates 'Minicraft' in less than 48 hours, you can play it now

What, no diamonds?
Lest you missed the live stream, Notch has finished his creation for the Ludum Dare 22 competition. Created in less than 48 hours, Minicraft strikes a familiar, albeit pixelated chord. Kill monsters, collect resources, build stuff. You can check out the browser game for yourself right here.

I've played games in Alpha, and i hate it. Why would i want to play a game that's only 48 hours in?

Hmm gee, maybe because the whole concept behind the Ludum Dare is to go from blank slate to minigame during a 48hr crunchtime....

As to why you should want to play a game thats only 48hrs in... dunno if you don't want to then don't, its not like anyone is asking you to. I on the other hand am going to enjoy seeing what Notch and the some odd other 600 entries managed to make in those 48hrs.

One time in a programming class we had to make a game in 4 hours and I made this game in java and this just shows notch isnt good progrramer and i could do better and... oh wait, wrong thread.

This is actually pretty neat! At first, it seems repetitive and pointless, but the more you wander, the more there is to the game. The perma-death makes it challenging.

I'm actually quite surprised this was done in 2 days. It's a better achievement than all of the numerous years I've tried making games in Klik n Play / The Games Factory / Multimedia Fusion 1 & 2 / Blitz Basic...
