Gallows singer Frank Carter got a tattoo live on stage during his band's gig at the Reading Festival this weekend.

The punk band's front man is renowned for his love of body art and claimed that he was getting the work done to remind him of the performance.

Carter told the audience: "This has been the best gig of my life - I don't want to forget it. But in half an hour I won't be able to remember a f*****g thing, so I'm going to get a tattoo."

Chad Gilbert of US rockers New Found Glory joined Carter on stage with an electric tattoo gun before going to work on the singer's arm.

Talking about the incident, Carter told NME: "That tattoo hurt like f*****g hell. It's just black on black though. You can't really see it"

The tattoo was reportedly a picture of a lock with seven stars next to it, paying tribute to the Lock Up Stage that the band were performing on.

Gallows took the Best British Newcomer award at last week's Kerrang Awards.
