This dance was named after the popular children’s dolls, The Cabbage Patch Kids. The dance was originally featured in the song “The Cabbage Patch” by the Gucci Crew II, but was mentioned in songs by Dr. Dre and DJ Tella, as well.
By 1987, the Cabbage Patch dance was showing up in many dance clubs across America. The song received most of its popularity from Jerry Rice of the San Francisco 49ers when he used it as his end zone dance in the 1990s.
