14th Sport For All conference in Beijing
The 14th World Conference on Sport for All is hosted by the Chinese Olympic Committee, the Beijing Municipal Government and the Beijing Olympic City Development Association and is organized by the IOC. The ATR Special Edition features a Q&A; with Sport For All chair and IOC Executive Board member Sam Ramsamy, evaluates the legacy of the 2008 Beijing Games and gives tips on taijiquan--better known as shadow boxing.

IAAF World Championships 2011 in Daegu
The bar measuring success has been set very high for the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, Korea. We discuss the objectives and changes to the athletic events with IAAF secretary general Pierre Weiss, the lessons to be learned for the London 2012 organizing committee and highlight the ten events you don't want to miss. Durban 2011 - 123rd IOC Session
For the first time since 1938, an IOC Session is taking place in Africa. The 123rd IOC Session in Durban will feature the vote for host of the 2018 Winter Games. ATR's special edition magazine features an in-depth profile of Africa, the upcoming race for the 2020 Games, changes in the IOC, Sochi 2014, the Youth Olympic Games and more.

SportAccord 2011
The numbers tell a story: the ninth year for SportAccord and the ninth consecutive year ATR has been on the scene to showcase news from this vital gathering of world sport. It marks our eighth special edition magazine for SportAccord. This edition highlights Federation leaders on "Why Sport Matters", a countdown to London 2012, The ATR Olympic Bid Power Index for the 2018 Winter Games and a preview of 2020 Summer Games candidates.

OCA General Assembly & 16th Asian Games
With more than 14,000 athletes and coaches from across the continent, the Asian Games now rank as the second-biggest sporting event outside of the Summer Olympics. Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah has served as president of the 45-nation OCA since 1990, guiding its growth. ATR’s special edition features an interview with Sheikh Ahmad and outlines the successful history of the Asian Games.

ANOC General Assembly 2010
The October 2010 meeting in Acapulco marks the 30th anniversary of the presidency of Mario Vázquez Raña of the Association of National Olympic Committees. A remarkable span that has guided the growth of NOCs from 144 in 1980 to 205 in 2010. ATR's special edition includes an interview with Vázquez Raña and editions in English, Spanish and French.


SportAccord 2010
SportAccord is the year's most important gathering of international sports leaders outside the Olympic Games. More than 1,500 delegates from some 100 International Sport Federations and their related associations attend along with corporate sponsors, bid and host cities, architects, broadcasters, rights holders and other sports specialists. This special edition magazine, ATR's seventh annual edition, has an exclusive interview with SportAccord President Hein Verbruggen and a special football section from our new media arm World Football Insider.

Copenhagen 2009

The IOC Comes to Guatemala
Humid and exotic, Guatemala seems an unlikely spot to consider the destiny of the Winter Olympics. Even so, the IOC will nonetheless set the wheels in motion for the 2014 Games, a highlight on day one. Once the furor over the July 4 vote passes, the 119th IOC Session gets down to three days of business that includes consideration of the Youth Olympic Games. It could become the first new multi-sports event under the flag of the Olympics since the Winter Olympics were added 80 years ago.

Countdown to Beijing: SportAccord 2007
The 2007 SportAccord convention in Beijing is on track to be the biggest yet since the event started in Madrid five years ago. More than 1,300 delegates registered for the convention, which has become the only annual gathering that include leaders of the IOC, international sports federations, bid cities and prominent executives from sports marketing and manufacturing. Around the Rings Beijing correspondent, Bill Smith, previews the next few months as the 2008 host city is put through its paces with more than two dozen test events.

The Race For 2014
For the second time in a row, the race for the Winter Olympic Games is a contest of three cities—two of them repeat contenders. It's as close as anything we've seen to a trend in bids for the Winter Games. The finalists were culled from a group of seven in May of 2006. The IOC Executive Board chose “quality over quantity”: PyeongChang, Salzburg and Sochi the unmistakable choices to make formal bids.

SportAccord 2006 in Seoul
No other meeting outside of an IOC Session brings together as many personalities from the IOC, international federations and the business of world sport. This year's meeting has even more luster with the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees, bringing leaders of the 203 NOCs to Seoul. This Special Edition includes profiles on each of the five continental associations represented at the ANOC meetings.

Decision 2005: Singapore
At the top of the list for the 117th IOC session is the July 6 election of the 2012 host of the Summer Olympic Games. It is a race unprecedented in the history of Olympic bids, with five world-class cities competing at the same time: London, Madrid, Moscow, New York and Paris. Set in Singapore, an archipelago country made up of 63 islands, who's name is derived from its Malay name, Singapura, which means Lion City.

The Road To Torino
With a population of two million, Torino is a far cry from Cortina d’Ampezzo. Fifty years ago, this hamlet with 5,000 inhabitants and a classic mountainside setting was the last Italian host for the Winter Olympics. With the Winter Games now three times bigger than they were in 1956, Torino 2006 President Valentino Castellani says he cannot imagine how they could be held without the facilities of a major city, such as Torino.
