Tyler Perry made Hollywood look to Atlanta in 2005 when his barely noticed, locally shot $5.5 million movie, "Diary of a Mad Black Woman," debuted at No. 1 at the box office with $22 million in ticket receipts. Since then the writer-director know for his inspirational stories has hit it big on TV with the sitcom "Tyler Perry's House of Payne." His 30-acre Tyler Perry Studios facility in southwestern Atlanta opened in October 2008 with a star-studded gala.
