Steve Burgin

Investigative Reporter, Weekend Anchor

Steve Burgin has been with WLKY for more than 30 years. The Louisville native left briefly in the late 1970s, but returned to the River City when he took a job with the station in 1980.

Steve previously worked at CNN, Atlanta, WFAA in Dallas, Texas WTVF, Nashville, Tenn., WBIR, Knoxville, Tenn. and KCTV, San Angelo, Texas.

He says his favorite part of the job is trying to help make our community a better place in which to live.

He also is proud of being able to work in broadcasting in his hometown. In the process, Steve has earned numberous Metro Journalism and Associated Press awards, including five Emmys, along with the Scripps Howard National Award for Investigative Reporting and a regional Edward R. Murrow award.

In 2006, Steve became the first broadcast journalist in Kentucky to receive the Silver Circle Award for lifetime achievement from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Steve is the proud father of two sons and a daughter. He has one son who is a staff sergeant in the Marines and the other is a slot technician is a Tampa, Fla. casino. His daughter works in the legal department at Humana. He is an avid movie goer. His favorite flick is "Slumdog Millionaire. "
