Diane Kruger - Diane Kruger Worried About Queen Role

Diane Kruger feels she is setting herself up "for failure" by playing Marie Antoinette.

The 35-year-old actress - who portrays the infamous French monarch in new movie 'Farewell, My Queen' - explained she is "anxious" about coming to terms with her "strange" alter-ego because the film is "super intellectual".

She explained: "It's directed by Benoit Jacquot and is super intellectual. But I'm a little anxious about it because I always feel with those big historical characters you set yourself up for failure because everyone has their opinion on them.

"The truth is that no one really knows what she is like, and at the end of the day it's up to me and her researcher to decide who she is. She is interesting but kind of strange."

However, Diane thinks she was born to play the role as both she and her alter-ego were born in Germany and lived in France.

She added: "I feel like the universe does conspire and I do believe that roles find actors and I have always been fascinated with her from school with what you hear about her and myself being German living in France. I've always been aware of her history. "This part just came to me. I'm the age she was when she died and the movie concentrates on her last four days."
