The CAMRA Members' Weekend and AGM 2012 will be held at The Riviera Centre in Torquay on 30th March-1st April 2012. It will provide our members with the opportunity to engage in CAMRA's national campaigns and discuss our future policy and direction. It also gives them the chance to catch up with fellow members over their favourite pint of real ale, visit recommended pubs and go on organised trips.
Although Torquay is not established for real ale like other areas of the country, it boasts a large number of good quality pubs and breweries both in Torquay and the surrounding area. You will have a chance to visit some of Torquay's 10 breweries with many of their real ales available for sale in the Members Bar!
Torquay boasts 22 miles of coastline, consisting of coves, cliffs and beaches so there are plenty of local attractions for members to visit. If members fancy escaping Torquay, the Dartmoor National Park is nearby which offers fantastic scenery, walks and pubs.
The Weekend is open to all CAMRA members to;
- Review what has been happening at branch, regional and national level over the past year
- Have your say, review campaigning themes and form policy
- Hear guest speakers on issues related to beer, brewing and key campaigns
- Meet the formal requirements of an AGM, including presentation of accounts
- Meet up with CAMRA members from around the country, National Executive and HQ staff members
- Discuss ideas to forward to campaign through workshops, policy discussion groups and seminars
- Enjoy a few drinks in the members bar with a good selection of local real ales
- Visit pubs in Torquay and the surrounding areas
- Visit local breweries and cider producers on organised trips.
2011's event took place in Sheffield and successfully allowed us to provide our members with the opportunity to discuss CAMRA's future policy and direction, as well as allowing members to socialise with friends. The event was a great success, with it being the highest attended CAMRA Members' Weekend and AGM in our history. Thank you to everyone who turned up.
