Join us and take part in Passing Through

Sheffield Theatres are running two casting workshops for Passing Through, an exciting promenade performance created by movement director Caroline Lamb of Striking Attitudes, in collaboration with Sheffield Theatres and Museums Sheffield. The show is a one-off special performance to celebrate the Crucible Theatre’s 40th birthday.

Passing Through is a movement based, atmospheric piece of theatre, which has been influenced by Ian Breakwell’s video installation The Other Side, soon to be showing at the Millennium Galleries. The video captures dancing couples as they circle the upper balcony of the De La Warr Pavilion by the sea in East Sussex.

Starting the performance in the gallery, the piece will continue through the Winter Gardens, into Tudor Square and out into the lights of the Crucible Theatre.

The piece will be created over 5 days, starting rehearsals on Saturday 5 November and continuing rehearsals up to and including the day of performance, Wednesday 9 November. You will need to be available for the majority of this period.

Take Part
If you are aged 40 or over and would you like to be involved in this project, you are invited to attend a workshop session. It is not necessary to have any previous movement or performing experience, just a desire to be involved and an enjoyment of theatre. There will be room for all levels of ability to take part.

The workshops will be held on Saturday 15 October at the Lyceum Theatre Rehearsal Room. There are two workshops to select from; places are limited so participants will be booked on a first come first served basis.
