The Stranger in the Corner

Is he so bad?

A friend sent along one of those much-forward emails (the kind I tend to ignore)—but this one really caught my attention. Tell me what you think:

A few years after I was born, my Dad met a stranger who was new to our small town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then... READ MORE

Oprah's Last Show

the good and the bad

I watched the Oprah series finale this afternoon. Don’t ask me how I pulled it off—I haven’t been able to watch anything at four in the afternoon since my oldest boys were toddlers. But somehow the big boys were all gone and both babies asleep and there I sat, folding laundry and watching Oprah.

I’ll admit I used to watch Oprah way back then. I was on a big kick for a while and really did enjoy the... READ MORE

Truth be Told

Another Family Movie Night!

Gather the family! Pop the popcorn! Set the DVR and enjoy another Family Movie Night tomorrow at 8 pm (7 Central) on FOX! This weekend’s film is Truth Be Told starring Candace Cameron Bure. You may remember Candace from her “Full House” days, but now she’s all grown up and starring in a movie that’s fun, inspirational and something the whole family can enjoy together. Learn more about this movie here, but most importantly please help us spread the word - if we want more family friendly viewing options on television, we must support and promote them! I’ll be tuned in Saturday night and will be anxious to hear from all of you who watch too!

Vianney - Meet him LIVE

Tune in for a special program

I ran across this preview today for a “Vianney” which airs live on EWTN on Wednesday, February 16 at 8:00 pm ET/ 7:00 pm Central and 5:00 pm Pacific Time. The program features Lenoardo Defilippis, describing how his live drama on St. John Vianney is making efforts to renew the heart of our Church.  Learn more here. I will definitely be tuning in to learn more about one of my favorite saints!

The Lost Valentine

Watch with me this weekend!

Two weeks ago, on the Catholic Moments Podcast, I shared the good news about a wonderful film airing tomorrow night, The Lost Valentine. Starring Betty White and Jennifer Love Hewitt, The Lost Valentine is the latest project from Paulist Productions and will air tomorrow night, Sunday, January 30 at 9 pm on CBS as a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie.

I hope you’ll make plans now to view this great movie... READ MORE

Change of Plans

Another "Family Movie Night"

I had the chance during my travels yesterday to pre-screen the upcoming Family Movie Night feature “Change of Plans” and can’t wait for the rest of you to enjoy it too.  Sponsored by Walmart and P&G, this is another “family friendly” movie you can enjoy without cringing one single time!  The film features great performances by Phylicia Rashad and Joe Flanigan, as well as super vocals and acting by... Something We've Been Asking For

Family-Friendly TV Entertainment!

A Walk In My Shoes - 2:33 TRLR from Moms4FamilyTV.com on Vimeo.

There’s a lot to complain about on television these days, so when a major network gets it right, I am eager to support their family-friendly projects. Though I have not yet seen the latest movie they are promoting, all indications are that NBC’s “Family Movie Night” is a project worthy of our support.

You can find out more about the newest... READ MORE

Crafty Lady

Help needed!

In a few weeks I’m appearing on a two-hour live television program that will feature me and three of my boys doing Christmas crafts and cooking.

Yes, you read that right. So please include me in your evening prayers starting tonight.

The good news is that a big part of my message needs to be about keeping things simple and not getting overwhelmed. So as I go through the program, I will remind viewers... READ MORE

Life Without Television

How sweet it is

As a mother of five boys, my eye was certainly drawn to Arwen’s post about boys and electronic media . We have a gaming system in our home and when I let the boys cart it out (I keep it under lock and key) it rarely bears good fruit. It’s all fun and games for about ten minutes before the frets set in.

As a family, we do so much better without the glow of the tube, shows, DVD’s and video games included.... READ MORE
