Traditional Christians Are Unfit Parents

Perhaps you recall the case of Owen & Eunice Johns from a post last March.

They’re the couple in Britain who were banned from being foster parents for refusing to say there was nothing wrong with practicing homosexuality.

Mind you, they were not crusaders on the issue. They weren’t planning to bring it up.

They simply told regulators in all honesty that if the issue came up they could not in conscience equate homosexuality with traditional marriage. For this they were deemed a threat to children.

The Johns appealed the decision, and in London, the High Court has ruled that Christians with traditional opinions about homosexuality indeed pose a threat to children and may not serve as foster parents, as this news story explains.

Married Again and Again

couple sets vow-renewal record

They say a shared hobby can help strengthen a marriage. Here’s one: renewing your wedding vows.

David and Lauren Blair, a Tennessee couple, have renewed their vows 100 times in 27 years of marriage, an average of almost four times a year.

I smiled when I read the story, and I loved the wife’s comment at the end of the article, “David will tell you he does it for the honeymoons!”

You can read about it on the Guinness World Records website. (Their hundredth vow renewal set a new record.)

Obviously not for everyone, but I thought it was pretty cute.

Handling Wedding Invitations

Do you respond consistently or case by case?

Today at Catholic News Agency, a reader posed an interesting and common question to Fr. Francis J. Hoffman (“Fr. Rocky”):

“My nephew is marrying outside the church; although baptized, he hasn’t been to church in years.  Should his Catholic relatives attend?  Of course it would cause bad feelings if we don’t.”

I want you to go over and read the eloquent and straightforward response Fr. Rocky gave... READ MORE

How to Love

a pro-life, pro-marriage message from a surprising source

The following video is inappropriate for kids, but I hope you’ll take a look at it.

It’s not from an artist or genre ordinarily to my taste, but I watched after reading about it at Dr. Alveda King’s blog. I’m impressed and heartened, and think you will be too.
