CARLOS Tevez may sue Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini for defamation of character, according to sources in the Argentine striker’s camp.On Tuesday, City fined Tevez four weeks wages - about £1m - for what they say were five separate breaches of contract in a game against Bayern Munich.In a letter, Tevez was told he would be charged with failing to warm up.But a statement on City’s website said he had failed to fulfil his “obligation to participate”.Tevez has been advised that Mancini’s post-match comments, where he said Tevez refused to play, could amount to defamation... 1 comment

Nemanja Vidic has quit the Serbian national team after their failure to qualify for the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine, the Serbian Football Association (FSS) said on Monday.The FSS published a statement by the Manchester United defender, who said media and fan criticism over his recent performances for Serbia had persuaded him to hang up his international boots."The basic reason for my international retirement is that my commitment for the national team has been criticised by the media and therefore by the public as well for some time now," the FSS website quoted Vidic as saying."I've been under fire although I turned up to play for Serbia even when I was injured and sometimes I did so against the advice of my club... Pedrosa roars to pole in Malaysia

Honda's Dani Pedrosa blazed to pole position for the Malaysian Grand Prix ahead of newly crowned MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner in qualifying on Saturday.The Spaniard clocked a fastest lap of two minutes, 1.462 seconds on a bumpy Sepang circuit to edge team mate Stoner and claim only his second pole of 2011 for Sunday's race.Pedrosa is currently fourth in the world championship standings on 208 points, chasing Italian Andrea Dovizioso (212) with two races left this season."I was trying hard for the pole," Pedrosa told reporters. APOEL fans could hardly hide their disappointment after the draw for the group stages of the Champions League was made in August.Their side, after qualifying for the group stages of Europe’s premier club competition for only the second time in their history, had failed to draw any of the giants of the European game. What made things even worse was how none of the sides they had drawn, Shakhtar Donetsk, Zenit St Petersburg or Porto, constituted a particularly appealing holiday destination for a short midweek break in the autumn months, such as Barcelona, Madrid, London or Milan would have been.
