Beautiful view: terrible food

I had one of the worst culinary experiences of my life on Sunday. There are many good things about Paphos, including a number of excellent restaurants and eateries. But where there is good there is also bad.

As always, the view of the castle and the harbour was glorious, but the service and food was spectacularly bad. My three companions, all ladies and all Cypriot, and I decided to forego a meal at our usual haunt, a well established, well run family fish restaurant and try somewhere different. What a huge mistake that was.

Nearly all of the staff at this particular eatery-although I use that term very loosely- were Eastern European, not that I have anything against Eastern Europeans generally, but these gentlemen spoke no Greek and little English.
