Welcome !! To
Desert mouse`s secret mouse hole a place to share my love of animation,
I`m starting the site with a movie that blew me away many years ago and
has stayed with even to this day. The one I speak of is "The Secert of
NIMH", taken from the wonderful book "Mrs Frisby and The rats of NIMH",
by Robert C. O`Brien, the movie is the main theme of my site. My
#1 character is Mrs Brisby in the movie and Frisby in the book (both
the same characters). A brave mouse who has taken all odds put
before her to save the life of one of childern, and beat the odds,
even in spite of her mild nature and the loss of a husband. I hope
in time to feature more other great animation classics, but the site is
new and lots of work to do. So all you need to do is to use your "mouse"
and take a look around, (when you finish enjoying this long home page,
you can use the "Navbars" in the upper and bottom of my pages to see other places of my site). Enjoy!

In the begining was the book, "Mrs Frisby and The Rats of NIMH". A Newbery , Caldecott awarded novel. Written by Robert C. O`Brien (1971). It was only a matter of time before this beautiful book would be made in to a movie by someone, and looking back on the book and the movie, I`m so glad that it was Don Bluth, because in that time and age, I do not think that even Disney could have pulled off this bringing the book to life as Don has, and he has worked for Disney for many years. The strange thing of it is, he had to leave Disney to make this wonderful movie.
DON BLUTH,
In 1979 a little known animater
left Disney studios with some other artsist in hand, His name was Don
Bluth and he was no newbee to the the art of anamation, while at Disney
he worked on such projects as "Petes Dragon" ," Robin Hood" and more,
he was working The "Fox and the Hound" when he left Disney. His first
animation feature While on his own that he made was a
"short" called "Banjo the Woodpile Cat " just over 20
mins long , But "The Secret of NIMH" was his first big feature alone
from Disney, and later thru the years followed "An American
Tail ", "All Dogs go to Heaven" , "Anastasia", "Titan A.E." and
more.
Elizabeth Heartman, as the voice of Mrs Brisby.
Peter Strauss, as the voice of Justin.
John Carradine, as the voice of the great Owl.
Dom De Luise, as the voice of Jeremy the crow.

The Secret Of NIMH, (1982)
BILLED AS RIGHT BEFORE YOU EYES AND BEYOND YOUR WILDEST DREAMS, This film marked the dawn of the Second Golden Age of Animation,
spotlighting the classical style of the art of animation, seen
previously only in early Walt Disney films. Based on the Newberry
Award-winner, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.I.M.H. by Robert C.
OBrien, the story follows a brave little field mouse, struggling to
save her endangered family. In the course of her determined efforts,
she stumbles upon the surprising secret of N.I.M.H., a group of
intelligent rats that escaped from the National Institute of Mental
Health. Features the voice talents of John Carradine, Dom DeLuise,
Elizabeth Hartman, Paul Shenar, Derek Jacoby, and Peter
Strauss and an incredible score by the legendary composer, Jerry
Goldsmith.
