Looping

Looping is an animation technique where a number of frames are repeated at least twice. Looping saves animators time, as a sequence of two or three images can be used over and over for several seconds. Three very common uses for looping are waving hair, mouth movements (talking) and walking/running.

Asynchronous Looping is a technique of having two pieces of the screen looping at different rates. For example 3 frames might be looped for a character's mouth movements, while at the same time the character's hair might be animated with a 4 or 5 frame loop.

Palindrome looping is a technique where the frames in the loop are first played in one order, and then in the other order and continue to alternate...

When used excessively, looping, along with panning, is referred to as "Lazy Animation."
