    Yea this game is hard. But to be honest it's not that hard. Then again I am only 12 hours in. So a hard repeating stomping might be just around the corner Oh and go ahead and down vote it dark souls fan boys.

    Hey The Free Press Strategy Guide is Sold Out already! I wish I could buy a copy when it is available again. Rarely does a game makes me buy a hard bound strategy guide. Most of the time I get the resource on the Internet from third party group. I heard the Free Press Strategy Guide is really good in terms of quality.

    @TigusVidiks: OK, fair enough. I thought you were just trolling. I was referring to the PS3 user score on GS, though, I'm not a fan of MC in any capacity. However, I'd also have to disagree with it not being 9.5. I really do think it deserves that.

    Why are you so mad? It's just a game. Nobody is forcing you to like it.

    I game like this would laugh at me. The difficulty is hard but not impossible. It would take some time to adjust and practice varies combat techniques. Not sure if I have the time for that.

    All in all, very good game.

    This game looks awesome, but it's sad you can't just tone down the difficulty for us older gamers who work 50+ hour weeks and simply don't have the time to get that good to beat the game.

    @eagles_band
    This is probably due to the fact that you have very little patience, a skill that is meant to be taught in this game. Also, the feeling of achievement as you gain the ability to cruise through a level that caused you hours of struggle before is like nothing you have ever experienced in a game.

    people people please....why are gettin so pissy abot the game score? does that really matter....its a great game...i dont care if they scored it 4.5 i dont play games just cuz gamespot gave it a 9....its all in the eye of the beholder....btw dark souls is awesome i love it!!!!

  • eagles_band

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 11:09 am PT

    I really like the gameplay and visuals. But dying and repeating the last 10 minutes (and do this every 20 min) is not fun for me.

  • TigusVidiks

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 10:44 am PT

    @calvinsora
    And yes, I played ( and am playing) the game. Or I wouldn't be speaking about it.
    About the metacritic score, your wrong. Actually, it shows 89 for the critics metascore. For the users metascore, it shows xbox- 8,3
    PS3 - 8,6

  • TigusVidiks

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 10:37 am PT

    @jeffbordonaro
    I rest my case. You just proved my point.

  • TigusVidiks

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 10:21 am PT

    And even if you love the gameplay. 1.- Bad frame rate. 2.- Dated graphics.
    3.- Bugs where you fall trough the ground to your death ( I experienced it first hand) a game with such problems can't get a review " almost perfect"

  • TigusVidiks

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 10:18 am PT

    @jeffbordonaro
    And no, I got my colector edition, with strategy guide, sound track, art book, and behind the scenes. Don't know if the limited edition was suposed to also have the Strategy guide.

    This game is epic but I hope they fix the bugs.

  • jeffbordonaro

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 9:22 am PT

    @Nuke_FonKillazz oh I know I meant the parenthesis as in not a strategy guide meaning it said a small guide. I was going to get the officale strategy guide but thought I'd try it without it. I'm regretting it just for the fact I cant remember where half the places are -_- lol it would have been nice if they added a fast travel

  • Nuke_FonKillazz

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 8:02 am PT

    @Nuke_FonKillazz Well , I was just confused because the images gamestop had where labeled and had pictures of the "actual" set and it showed cd's and a guide book(not strategy guide) and an art book and labeled them as such with out a notice on the labels saying any of it was digital lol

  • Nuke_FonKillazz

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 7:51 am PT

    I just noticed that the limited edition didnt come with what was posted lol
    Small guide book and cd's of behind the scenes and soundtrack.
    What I got was the art book , dark souls, and a card for the DOWNLOADABLE sound track.
    Is this what everyone else got or did I just get jipped xD

    @TigusVidiks ...awwwww, did some one have a hard time playing this game? pshhhtt. I Love this game and so do a million other people, now even the xbox people get a taste of the pure awesomeness. Only reason why the ratings will go up(and not down as you say)..is because people actually enjoy this game...

    I was never interested in this game until I saw this review, and now I have to get it.

  • faceless-mask

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 6:51 am PT

    @TigusVidiks And you can't say all the PS3 players are demon's souls fanboys. Some of them yes, and those guys might give it a good score because they love demon's souls, but not everyone is just a fanboy, willing to give the game a high score because it's predecessor was great. Lot's of the players will judge the game based on it's given content and then rate the game. Also, if you want the average score based on both Xbox 360 and PS3 users, it comes to 8.8, which is extremely close to the average critics score for both the consoles. Also, checking the recent dark souls review on metacritic, the user score comes up to 8.9. And by checking them, I mean I checked them right before I put up this post.

  • faceless-mask

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 6:37 am PT

    @TigusVidiks Check the PS3 user score for the game, the average is 9.2. The Xbox 360 score is 8.4. Which basically means the game is really great on PS3 and just great on Xbox 360.

    Yes, a dream game to those of us who appreciate an unforgiving challenge. The things that make a game real intense and frightening, brutal conseqeuences. From smiles to grimaces ^^

  • calvinsora

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 6:00 am PT

    @TigusVidiks: Have you played the game? The difficulty comes from the interaction and intelligent design of the combat system itself. You don't have combos, but you have myriad ways of facing your opponents, parrying, riposting, spears, magic, miracles, pyromancy, bombs, throwing daggers, hammers, glaives, claymores etc. The dodges are simple, you have to manage your stamina and think ahead.
    As for the MC scores, I can see where you're coming from. But again, I don't take those all that seriously. It says little about the quality of the game in both directions. I at least think this game is brilliant, better than the first in many ways.

    First rate review. Dark Souls must be one of the greatest productions ever for it to score 9.5 in spite of the technical glitches.

  • Cryptic_Shadow

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 5:14 am PT

    Ignorance is the only hater of this game. It is either you will play or you will not. This games looks and sounds absolutely incredible and it takes you into the heart of its atmosphere right from the beginning. This is Demons Souls goes open world, which is an extremely inviting combination. It is very difficult but that is a rare and welcoming change from many of the other RPG games that hold your hand throughout and leave little consequences for dying or little imagination for exploring. You can enjoy this game and still develop your character while constantly dying, so there aren't really any roadblocks. It forces you to sit on the edge of your seat with your guard constantly up and simply put, this will offer you its moneys worth long after your other games are conquered, killed and buried.

    This will be a sick fill-in-the-time-before-skyrim-comes-out game. I believe that many of you would really be surprised at how fun and rewarding putting your own patience and skills to the test really is.

    the more peopls stress about dificulity the more dark souls i want play cuz of that

  • TigusVidiks

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 5:05 am PT

    @calvinsora
    And the controls are average. Just average. The actual dificulty of the game, comes not from your oponets, but from the limited controls you have. 1-2 combos, no learning new moves, slow movement. That's what makes it dificult. Not the repetitive enemies with repetitive limited attacks and movements.

  • TigusVidiks

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 5:01 am PT

    @calvinsora
    Actually, users give it 8,4. and on metacritic: 8,4
    And as more people get into the pool, it will go further down until it gets to the actual most accurate rating for the game. Because as more people rate it, the more diluted both the fanboys and the haters become. And you end up with a pretty good realistic score. As for critics reviews, it's 8,9. You are talking 9,2, but that is the PS3 user specific, more riddled with fanboys, who loved Demon Souls, and are trying to defend the new release.

  • calvinsora

    Posted Oct 9, 2011 4:35 am PT

    @justicxprime: I'd blame the individual copy, then, I've had very little framerate issues. The graphics matter little when the design is so brilliant and the controls are awful? I don't see that, they're perfectly dynamic.
