Three National Guard officers suspended over Mari blast
THE DEFENCE Ministry yesterday announced the suspension of three National Guard (NG) officers in connection with a criminal investigation into the events leading to the Evangelos Florakis naval base blast on July 11.
The explosion killed 13 soldiers and fire-fighters and knocked out Cyprus’ main power station at Vasilikos, causing an energy crisis.
