Video: Gee Atherton vs 400 Irish mountain bikers

By BikeRadar, UK

Could you outrun Gee Atherton in an all-out downhill pursuit? That was the question 400 mountain bikers, including his brother Dan, faced during the first Red Bull Foxhunt in Wicklow, Ireland.

Held in Ballinastoe Woods last month as part of the Epic Blast event, the challenge saw ‘The Fox’ (Gee) chase 'The Hunt' (the rest) down a moor and through a wood, with every rider he passed eliminated.

Some 400 riders, including 200 of Ireland’s top downhillers, took their place on the start line for the mass-start event, with Gee just behind them. Check out the video below to see how many fell prey to the World Cup star:

  • That was really quite good.

I can't be bothered sitting through the advert again though- was that Dan in second place?

  • Yep, Dan was second. Both of them were very decent blokes, and fast too obviously. Unfortunately Rachel wasnt there :(

This is the biggest and best craic event in the Irish MTB calender. It also features many of Irelands WORST downhillers, of which I am one.
