Cycle Show 2011: Troy Lee Designs Specialized Demo

By James Costley-White in Bath, UK

Taking pride of place on Fisher Outdoor Leisure's stand at Cycle Show 2011 this weekend was this eyecatching Demo 8 – a collaboration between bike makers Specialized and custom paint masters Troy Lee Designs.

First seen at Eurobike, a limited edition run of just 250 frames will be made. The paint job has been designed by Troy himself, with sparkly orange paint, 3D down tube graphics and rainbow stripes on the upper link to celebrate team rider Sam Hill's victory at the 2010 World Championships.

A frame like this deserves a parts spec to match, and Fisher didn't disappoint, decking out the show bike with a RockShox Boxxer fork, Cane Creek Double Barrel Shock, Renthal bars, Truvativ Descendant cranks and SRAM X0 World Cup brakes.

The special edition TLD collaboration is available now for £1,999.99 (frame and shock) – the same as the regular Demo 8. The Demo was one of this year's hottest bikes and comes highly rated by BikeRadar, so we can see these flying off the shelves.

Rose

Continuing with the custom paint theme, Rose Bikes UK main man Fin Paton will be out and about on this one-off Granite Chief this season. Fin admits he "went to town" with Rose's Bike Configurator software to kit it out – the result is a wishlist equipment spec.

The build includes a Fox 36 Float fork and custom-tuned Float R shock, Shimano XTR gearing and brakes, e*thirteen chain device and Easton finishing kit, including carbon Haven wheels. The custom paintjob would set you back £600, with the complete bike shown here coming in at £5,475.
