From Software's RPG sells almost 280,000 copies and outsells Team Ico collection by three copies to one.

From Software's Dark Souls is the new number one in the Japanese all-formats chart, selling almost 280,000 copies in its first week on sale.

The punishing RPG outsold its nearest competitor, PS3's Ico & Shadow Of The Colossus HD Collection, by more than three copies to one.

Epic Games' Gears Of War 3 enters the chart at number 4, with over 56,000 units sold, while 3DS breast-fest Senran Kagura debuts in sixth. Last week's number one, Dragon Quest Collection, slips to fifth, and Shadows Of The Damned, the Mikami/Suda collaboration released in the west in June, debuts in a lowly 18th place.

The 360-versie of Dark Souls

The 360-versie of Dark Souls was not released in Japan. So it's no wonder it didn't make the top 20.

That would go some way to

That would go some way to explaining it, yes.

Thanks, strolie. Fixed.

Well, Dark Souls is a new

Well, Dark Souls is a new game as opposed to a cash in re-release of an exisiting game. Must remember to buy Demons' Souls at some point.

Can't wait to play this.

Can't wait to play this.

... can't wait to watch a

... can't wait to watch a great let's play of it

I wonder if it's actually

I wonder if it's actually difficult. Demon Souls wasn't really a difficult game, it was more of a patience test. It just begged you to rush & if you did it killed you.

teh difficulty issue has

teh difficulty issue has lately made doubts to me too.

... aren't what u sayed an

... aren't what u sayed an limitation to the potential greatnes of the story? an lack of intelligence on the opposing side? remember teh best clancy novels, where the greatnes and the complexity always came from the geniusnes of the opponent. [be he adversary or an friend]. while i do support teh new internetz view of hc so well sayed by the out there comic, i feel a little down ended when the thing im playing with -[again, friend or foe]- is only an reactional thingy.

am i incorrect in saying that there hasn't been any new feature on edge finding new AI technologies?

well, dunno, but, i am waiting for teh ign 24h live stream  on the dark souls

also: halo ce elites on legendary. haven't seen that in dark souls videos yet

... that didn't come out rly well.. but the point u sayed about rushing did aply.. :)

and the monotomy of assault in games i find disturbing. when did games turn to things where fights are emotional?  library of gaming should have more tools.

mi old cyberpunk 2020 manual sayed: "only thing where firefights are romantic are james bond novels". all the emotions in a firefight are what you bring yourself to them. are we really sure games should follow hollywood and start bringing emo packages where there could be reality.

...god damn it. this isnt going to the thought. but, not so far aniwais so stop here

as an old soldier, i has acces to an libray of realities that make fighting in games much richer. imo the stuff thats added to games nowadays weakens potential. its like watching football game while there's some memetic thingy [like wife] telling how should u feel at every turn. no doubt it works, but should we feel elevated progressing in a game? before you say "of course, yes", -is this how a hard core gamer gets revarded? shouldn't hc gamer mean something like beign able to immeres in the game world totally? shouldn't you  just play? ... hmm.  when does emotions come to play? when does difficulty mean anything? ...god damnit

hard to tell. but i guess im saying sumting like this: since when did we have to start thinking that beign a true gamer ment that we have to start treating videogames as the only play in town. "since they can manipulate expectations & emotions better than our real life"?.  funny me, i allways thought that beign a gamer ment that u take any reality, and play with it. i don't need emo shit and victories in hardship to enjoy. rather, i like games that are beyond mi capability to win [yet].

but, of course, i don't think that is the case to you all

....could gave written mile of this.  mby then gotten some where, but, nou, has to adhere to decency , and stop. :)
