WBRE-TV To Launch One-Hour Live, Local Newscast at 4 p.m. for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

PA LIVE! to Air this Fall Bringing Fresh Local Lifestyle News Programming to Northeastern Pennsylvania Viewers

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON, Pennsylvania (June 22, 2011) - WBRE-TV the NBC affiliate serving the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton DMA announced today that it will launch PA Live! on September 12, 2011. PA Live! will be the market's first one-hour live, local 4:00 p.m. newscast.

PA Live! will offer Northeastern Pennsylvania viewers fresh, innovative, news programming with a specialized focus on local lifestyle content including segments from experts on myriad topics of personal and community interest. PA Live! will also promote interactivity with viewers online in real-time through PAHomepage.com and social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

Commenting on the upcoming launch of PA Live!, WBRE-TV Vice President and General Manager, Lou Abitabilo said, "Based on the feedback and demands of our Northeast Pennsylvania viewers the unique format of PA Live! is a natural fit for the market. The show is going to be unlike anything else produced in this region and will highlight WBRE's commitment to provide our viewers with convenient, timely and topical lifestyle programming. We will provide a fresh product every day to address the evolving dynamics of local viewer interests and PA Live! will be unique in its ability to be the first to air a local lifestyle news format with the appeal of must-see TV. PA Live! will be co-hosted by WBRE news reporter, Monica Madeja and former WYOU weather anchor, Dave Kuharchik, both Pennsylvania natives. Monica and Dave will interact with viewers through social media applications allowing PA Live! viewers to provide input on the market's most relevant developments.

Ms. Madeja came to WBRE in May 2010 and has anchored the Weekend Morning Editions of Eyewitness News and previously anchored the Morning News at KRCG in Jefferson City, MO. Mr. Kuharchik was a meteorologist on WYOU-TV for nearly a decade and holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal from the American Meteorological Society.
