CWA 2010: Rosé

There was a slightly higher medal count than in 2009, but rosé has yet to score gold in the Canadian Wine Awards. Several judges commented that rosé seems too often to be “an afterthought” wine made from leftovers or bin ends. “If wineries are serious about rosé, they should grow grapes to make rosé,” said Bill Zacharkiw. “If not, expect middling quality.” And rosé should be taken seriously, said Janet Dorozynski. “Canada needs to be thinking pink because this is one of the fastest-growing categories, and it’s very versatile with food,” she said.
