Col. Luke T. Leonard

Colonel Luke Leonard was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was commissioned as an Engineer Officer after graduating from The Citadel in May, 1987.

His assignments include: Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Assistant S3, 13th Engineer Battalion, 7th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Ord, California; Plans Officer, Adjutant and Commander of B Company, 10th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Schweinfurt, Germany; Construction Project Engineer, Baltimore District, US Army Corps of Engineers; Project Manager, Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers, Washington, DC; Battalion S3, 27th Engineer Battalion (Combat)(Airborne), Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo; Executive Officer, 27th Engineer Battalion (C)(Abn), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General, US Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe Virginia; Brigade S3, 20th Engineer Brigade (Combat)(Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Baghdad Iraq; Commander, 94th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Mosul Iraq; Chief, Engineer Branch, and later Chief Operations and Plans Division, US Army Human Resources Command. His five operational deployments include Operation Nimrod Dancer and Operation Just Cause in Panama, Operation Joint Forge in Kosovo, and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004-2005 and 2007-2008.

COL Leonard’s military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, and the Command and General Staff College. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from The Citadel, a Master’s of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Maryland, and is a Professional Engineer registered in the District of Columbia.

COL Leonard’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Meritorious Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Action Badge, the Senior Parachutist’s Badge, Ranger Tab and the Bronze Order of the deFleury Medal.
