Kenyan runner Patrick Makau shattered the world men’s marathon record by 21 seconds at Sunday’s race in Berlin, clocking two hours three minutes 38 seconds. Former record holder, Ethiopia’s Haile Gebrselassie, did not finish the run due to injury.
