Barbara Nissman

Barbara Nissman is an American pianist known for her recordings of Prokofiev,
Ginastera, and Bartók. Recognized around the world,she has performed with the world's top
orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic,
the Pittsburg Symphony, the Cleveland Symphony, the Chicago Symphony, the
London Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic, and the BBC Symphony. She received
her Ph.D in music from the University of Michigan, where she studied for seven
years with Gyorgy Sandor. Her 1989 concert cycle of all of Prokofiev's piano
sonatas in New York and London was a first. That same year she released the
complete set of Prokofiev piano sonatas on compact disc -- another first.
In this interview, Barbara discusses her research and views on Prokofiev and
his music, and talks about her new book on the composer.

Sviatoslav Prokofiev

Sviatoslav Prokofiev is the composer's first son. Born in
Paris on 27-February-1924, Sviatoslav grew up with his younger brother Oleg
and his parents in Paris, and then in Moscow after the family
returned there in 1936. In this exclusive interview, Sviatoslav recalls with
fondness growing up in Paris and paints a revealing portrait of Prokofiev
as a father as well as composer-musician. He also talks about the dark days before
and during World War II, when he lived in war-torn Moscow. Finally, he
tells his own views about his father's music and legacy.
