Mark your calendars for January 13-16, 2005, for "The Amaz!ng Meeting 3: From Eve to Newton, the Apple of Knowledge." TAM2 was a great success, with close to 400 guests from around the globe enjoying excellent speakers and entertainment. TAM3 will be even bigger and better — being held this year in association with the Skeptics Society and Michael Shermer!

We have some BRAND NEW special events offered during TAM3. Click here to learn more.

Our lineup this year includes:

Registration

Pre-registration has ended. You may still register at the conference.

  • Dr. Richard Dawkins, celebrated author, scientist, philosopher, humanist, lecturer and educator from Oxford University will be our featured speaker. He will be celebrating and following with us the progress of knowledge and education from Biblical mythology to present times. We're flattered and excited to have this major academic joining us, and believe me, you'd better take notes!

  • Julia Sweeney, Saturday Night Live alumnus, writer, actor and comedienne wowed us last year with her excerpts from her one-woman show "Letting Go of God." This year we've given her free rein to do a complete show for you on Thursday evening. Julia alone will be worth the price of admission!

  • Penn & Teller will again be gracing us with their humor, wisdom and magic. They have cemented their positions as allies against nonsense and pseudoscience with their Showtime series "Bullshit!" and proved that humor is one of the skeptic's best tools.

  • Dr. Michael Shermer will again kick off our Friday morning agenda and besides his informative lecture, will participate in the Thursday workshop, and will act as our Master of Ceremonies for part of the weekend.

  • Jamy Ian Swiss, one of the magic profession's brightest stars, will be lecturing to us this year and bringing his unique magician's perspective on those psychic scammers.

  • Banachek will also be returning to share with you his experiences as one of the two original "Alpha Boys" who infiltrated a parapsychology lab and proved that yes, scientists CAN be fooled. He's an experienced mentalist and lecturer who really knows his subject.

  • Dr. Joe Nickell, Chief Investigator for the Committee for Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP) is a forensic expert, former private eye and author. He has traveled extensively and brings to TAM 3 his depth of knowledge on all areas of scams and hoaxes.

  • Magician Rick Maue specializes in theatrical séances and presented an especially interesting late night talk at TAM 2. He was so popular we've asked him to appear in "prime time" for TAM 3. Rick's a champion of critical thinking and infuses that message into all his performances.

  • Brenton Ver Ploeg is a Miami attorney with a special interest in science and pseudoscience. He represents both CSICOP and JREF and will tell us about the role of the Courts in battling scam artists.

  • Andrew Mayne will tell us how he uses his magic skills to teach critical thinking in the classroom.

  • JUST ADDEDDr. Richard Wiseman, originally an award-winning magician, currently heads the Perrott-Warrick Research Unit at the University of Hertfordshire.

  • JUST ADDEDChristopher Hitchens is a writer who, with trademark savage wit, Hitchens flattens hypocrisy inside the Beltway and around the world, laying bare the "permanent government" of entrenched powers and interests.

  • In addition to our speakers, we'll have special guests in attendance to tell stories and amaze you. Again, Jerry Andrus will share his astounding illusions. Randi's buddy from his TV "Wonderama" days, the one-and-only Sonny Fox, will be sharing stories.

  • Ever-popular and entertaining Dr. Phil Plait, aka the Bad Astronomer, will be hosting part of the weekend, and promises to keep you on your toes.

  • And needless to say, Randi will be everywhere, hosting, speaking, entertaining, interviewing, telling stories, and possibly even performing a miracle or two.
