According to a new report from Research and Markets, “3D in Mobile Technology: Processors, Image Sensors, and Displays Drive the 3D Experience,” the number of 3D mobile devices will surpass 148 million in 2015. New 3D devices like the Toshiba autostereoscopic 3D laptop, 3D phones from Sprint and AT&T will drive 3D penetration with consumers. As the world celebrates the biggest game franchise at Call of Duty XP in Los Angeles, Valve is making it easier for gamers to access the PC version of the latest installment. PC gamers will be able to download Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 through Steam this fall. Valve confirmed that the new game from Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games will be able to use the Steamworks suite of services. Pre-purchase reservations are now available via Steam, which has over 30 million accounts around the world.

It’s time to get Back to Football as the NFL begins its 92nd season with an unprecedented celebration in its special pregame show, "NFL Kickoff 2011 Presented By EA Sports” – 7:30 PM ET Thursday, September 8.  Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5 are scheduled to perform. There will be simulcast coverage of the 60-minute pregame show from Lambeau Field which will air on NBC and NFL Network.  The live pregame broadcast also will be available via NFL Mobile only from Verizon.

THQ showed gamers at Gamescom 2011 and PAX Prime 2011 a first look at the new horror sequel, Metro: Last Light. Cologne – Over 275,000 gamers flocked to Cologne for Gamescom 2011, which set a record for the three year old convention. While gamers were happy to get hands-on with some of the biggest titles of this year and next, a German TV station sent reporters to the convention center to rip apart the attendees. Seattle – Valve Software, which is based in Seattle, used the local video game convention, PAX Prime 2011, to debut its latest game. Counter Strike: Global Offensive was on display at Valve’s booth for gamers to get a first look at. Gamers were able to get hands-on time with both titles, as well as listen to Skyrim Game Director Todd Howard discuss the game during an exclusive panel. Sega continues its year-long celebration of Sonic the Hedgehog’s 20th Anniversary. The game publisher had a full lineup of titles at PAX Prime 2011 in Seattle. Located at Booth 3625 on the show floor, the company had a pair of new Sonic games playable -- Sonic Generations, which is the first 3D Sonic game, and Sonic CD.
