Instruments

These instruments are set up by our craftsmen here at Kamimoto String Instruments with an Aubert bridge. Bridges transduce the vibration from the strings to the soundbox of the instrument where the resonance of an instrument is then created.

Art Chinois

The Art Chinois is a line of string instruments made exclusively for Kamimoto String Instruments. These instruments are made by internationally renown craftsmen in China, many of whom have won awards and honorary mentions at various violin making competitions. They understand that the choice of tonewoods is important to the sound of an instrument. Every instrument in the Art Chinois series is made of meticulously chosen tonewoods which are then separated into several grades in accordance to their tonal quality. The Art Chinois series is a line that you should not overlook if you are seeking a quality instrument at a very reasonable price.

Samuel Eastman

The Samuel Eastman, Andreas Eastman, and Eastman Master Series violins and celli have become a staple of string programs everywhere. Outstanding features include beautiful, select tonewoods, genuine hand-inlaid purfling, and a glowing amber-brown varnish that is durable as well as attractive. These fully carved instruments provide quality of sound and craftsmanship to beginning and advancing players.

Ivan Dunov

The Ivan Dunov workshop, formerly located out of Bulgaria, produces violins of multiple grades but Kamimoto only carries its highest grade violin, the Superior (Model 402). Crafted from only select woods from the Carpathian Mountains in Eastern Europe, the Dunov Superior 402 models are made in the Dunov workshop and then sent in white to the United states to where they are varnished in a dark lavish color. The result is a beautiful looking and wonderful sounding violin that creates a pompous sound with European and American craftsmanship.

Rudoulf Doetsch

The Rudoulf Doetsch instruments are made in a time-honored workshop-method tradition by a collaboration of family workshops in Erlangen, Germany. Necks, scrolls, ribs, tops, and backs are each carved separately and are then assembled into instruments by a master luthier. They are then sent to the United States where Mr. William Weaver and his assistants remove the tops to make internal tonal adjustments, check and correct neck size and graduation, replace the bass bars, and hand-varnish each one.

Wilhelm Klier

Our Wilhelm Klier violins and celli are made through the time-honored workshop method in Germany. The Klier violins have a distinct antique vanish that is hand brushed onto the instruments. Kliers offer the rich luscious sound of the Dunov and the brilliance of the Doetsch violins. Choice of strings includes Pirastro, Dominant, or Thomastik Infeld strings per request.

Ming Jiang Zhu

Medal Medal

We carry multiple grades of instruments form Ming Jiang Zhu, all of them feature high caliber craftsmanship. The decorative flamed maple and beautifully even-grained spruce are meticulously chosen for the instruments by Ming himself. Some of the instruments are made with the wood that shop owner Jon personally selected and commissioned Ming to work with. Please call for availability since violins of this caliber and price are extremely rare. Choice of strings includes Pirastro, Dominant, or Thomastik Infeld strings per request.
