Purpose
Discover how people live in other parts of the world. Educate them about where you live and what you do. What seems so mundane to you will be interesting to another person living on the opposite side of the world. Make it as visual as possible so that they can see and learn about your world.

Guidelines for the project
You can include all or some of the following points. Feel free to add anything else to the project that you think will help them understand where you are better. Make sure you divide the work into sub groups so that everyone contributes to the project. You can assemble all the information together and a group of students can serve as editors for the final presentation.

  1. Introduce the country:
    • Map of the world: highlight your country and point out your city and the capital city on the map.
    • Area of the country
    • Population – total and density
    • Languages
    • Industries, Agriculture, Natural resources
    • Key famous places in the country
    • Climate
    • Popular forms of art in your country

  2. Introduce the City/Town:
    • Population of the city
    • Pictures of typical houses in the city (take digital pictures of the homes of the students to include in the presentation)
    • Attractions in the city
    • What do people do in their free time – typical hobbies

  3. Introduce your school:
    • When was the school started
    • What grades/standards do you have in the school (kindergarten through XII, etc)
    • How many students are in your school
    • Your class size(s)
    • Activities other than studies – sports, extra-curricular activities, etc
    • What time do you start school and when do you end school
    • When do you have vacations
    • How many exams do you have during the year?
    • What are the subjects you study?
    • What kinds of interesting projects have you been working on?
    • What do you like best about your school
    • What don’t you like about going to school
    • What would you do to make school more interesting?

Project Content

  • Make the presentation as visual as possible. Include pictures from the internet, take pictures of your school, your classroom, playground, etc and include them on the presentation. The presentation should give the viewers enough content to visualize your environment.
  • You can include short video clips if you think that would better serve the purpose.
  • Take a picture of the whole project group and include that in the presentation.
