Seether And Amy Lee Take Two Years To Make 'Broken'

Yahoo! Music, May 24, 2004 3:00 pm PDT
Evanescence singer Amy Lee was supposed to sing on the original version of "Broken" two years ago, when Seether first recorded it, but somehow it never came together. A year later, Seether and Evanescence were touring together, Lee and Seether frontman Shaun Morgan were becoming an item, and "Broken" came back into the picture, as Lee told LAUNCH.

"I used to sing it last year," Lee said. "When we played festivals together and stuff, I'd get up and sing on a song, when I'm visiting him or when he's visiting me, if Seether's playing and I'm watching. And I guess everybody liked the way we were doing 'Broken,' and Shaun was just like, 'I don't know, why don't we just, like, record it and release it.' Of course, you know, the label thought that was really cool and wanted to put it in the soundtrack."

The new version of "Broken," with Amy on vocals, can be found on the soundtrack to the movie the Punisher.

Evanescence, along with Seether, Three Days Grace, and Breaking Benjamin, will begin a North American tour on July 7 in Canada. U.S. dates kick off on July 13 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
