Best building
Designations increase
The 360 Performance Program, begun by the Building Owners and Managers Association International (BOMA) in 2009, recognizes commercial properties that demonstrate best practices in building operations and management.
Fifty-three more buildings were conferred with the BOMA 360 designation in the first quarter of 2011, bringing to 230 the total number that have been designated.
After a year with the designation, a survey found that these buildings had operational savings and efficiencies and attracted new tenants. Another study found these buildings have higher tenant satisfaction scores compared with those without the designation.
The program evaluates properties on six areas of building management: building operations and management; life safety/security/risk management; training and education; energy; environment/sustainability and tenant relations/community involvement.
Local city properties that recently obtained the BOMA 360 designation are the TIAA-CREF building at 730 Third Ave., 148 Lafayette St. and 230 Park Ave. Buildings that previously earned the designation are 245 Park Ave., 300 Madison Ave, the Grace Building, the Federal Reserve Building, One New York Plaza, One World Financial Center and the Time Warner Center.
