Comment

I would like to give thanks for being awarded the Encouragement Prize. I presented this work with the concept of slippage of thought and viewpoint which is caused by time in human beings. This award will be a source of encouragement as I carry on with my creations.

Reason for Award

This work is an undeniable masterpiece. Within the landscape of passing seasons and elapsing streams of time, the memory of boyhood is unconstrained and depicted as a dazzling metamorphosis! Then the healthy festiveness comes to an end suddenly with the growing of the boy into adulthood. The eternity which is concentrated in the short time of 2 minutes and 32 seconds is beautifully presented. It is coupled with graphical depictions of tint and color, and is an unforgettable piece of work full of the fundamental appeal of animation. The Jury Committees present this award for unlimited possibility and the future of new talent FUJITA Junpei, the director.

Q1
How old were you when you "created" something first time in your life? At that time, what did you create, and what kind of medium did you use?
A1
It was when I was a baby. I was told that I drew carp streamers all over the room with crayons.
Q2
What kind of tools or medium do you use now? Please tell us the reason why you choose them.
A2
Pigments and computers. Uniqueness and convenience.
Q3
If you could get "dream tools/medium" for your creation, what do you wish to get?
A3
A room where a day becomes a year.
Q4
Do you have any consistent subject matter or theme through your works? If so, please explain us.
A4
Perhaps, the theme of "living", I guess.
Q5
Please tell us the most difficult or considerable part when you create your work.

I think that it would be when I ask myself if I represent "being" over and over.
Q6
Have you ever felt that your work is a "media art"? Also, what is the difference between "media arts" and "traditional fine arts"?

Not particularly. If I had to categorize them, I guess it would be as insignificant as choosing which dish to put your food on.
Q7
As an artist/creator, please tell us your approach, stance or point of view when you create your work.
A7
I always think about life and death. I value the accumulation of thoughts on this subject.

I have none in particular.
Q9
What kind of situation in every day life do you get inspired most?
A9
Each day itself.

Death :
When I watched the death of one of my family members for the first time in my life. I felt a sorrow which I could not put words to. It made me think about life.

Beauty in a piece of work :
I sometimes feel very sad when I see a beautiful piece of work. That is because I feel the work is far too removed from reality.
