LOS ANGELES -- A magnitude-4.2 earthquake rumbled across the Los Angeles region but there are no early reports of damage.  
 
Tremor's epicenter was roughly 3 miles northeast of San Leandro near Chabot Regional Park. It struck roughly 11 hours after a similar quake that itself was followed by a magnitude 2.3 aftershock.

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that a 5.9 earthquake has hit in Virginia 87 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.
