Irradiation is used around the world to make lives safer, healthier and more productive-by sterilizing medical devices and pharmaceuticals, reducing microbes in food, cosmetics, and packaging, and enabling material improvements in consumer and manufactured goods.
For more than 40 years, the International Irradiation Association (iia) (formerly the Aiii) has been an active promoter of the safe and beneficial use of irradiation, representing the interests of industry members and working to enlighten the public and regulators about the advantages of irradiation technologies such as gamma, e-beam and x-ray.
