I feel the same way about this game. It's kinda the same feeling I got after watching the Tim Burton film. However, a movie out of this game would probably give kids nightmares.

There were talks of a movie based on the first game a few years ago, but Tim Burton jumped on the tracks and derailed that train and put Johnny Depp as the main star. The rest is crappy history.

*sigh* Yep. I usually like his films but Alice in Wonderland was the first, big disappointment for me. :/

He got a bit CGI/animation/motion capture fanatical, and the film just didn't really have any substance or heart to it. I just wanted a typical Tim Burton-esque dark film, really....not what the end result came to be.

This was a day-one buy for me.  While I've so far payed through it once, then ran through it again to gather missed collectables, and will be going on Nightmare mode soon, i can't say I've tired of most of it yet - though some of the "puzzles" really can be tedious.  plus, EVIL INVISIBLE PLATFORMS!!!

It should be worth noting that things such as the button-match music, sliding puzzles and chess puzzles CAN be skipped and Alice's jump'n'hover can only be used 3 times before touching the ground.

In a world full of FPS and rhythm games, a platformer is a wonderful change of pace (I recently grabbed Beyond good and Evil HD as well).  But yeah, the art direction is definitely the main draw to this game.  I also agree - the first Alice has not aged well.

Thanks Ben. I really wanted a good opinion about this since other reviews bashed this. It's a unique interpretation of Alice and was hoping it was worth a play.

Now Catherine is the next game I saw to see it that it is worth it.

I like the fact that it's all about NOBODY. It kind of reminds me of a karma system which I do enjoy. Fallout, InFamous, etc. I always do the good route. Some times I play it through just to see the outcome of negative karma.

Okay, I know Disney is popular and all but it's not the source material, like most Disney stories, it's either the Grimm brothers, wich I read, or in this case Lewis Carrol and I heard Lewis Carrol's original books were quite crazy so no need to put emphasis on ''oh look Alice is so cut-... What happened to her?!''. From what I heard there's drug abuse, incest and sodomy, so no, it wasn't cute to start. I don't mean to insult you Ben, it's just that alot of people go that route, understandable since Disney is so popular.

Also, regarding the game you can kinda chain combos, you can alternate between vorpal blade and hobby horse. I agree though, nice but somewhat repetitive. Still the atmosphere is interesting.

Yeah, that's pretty common knowledge, which is why I specifically referred to "Disney's" version. The idea of the game is how Alice goes crazy, so it was used to show the contrast/explanation.

The weird part is that the Disney version is the only version of the story I liked (the book was torture to read... :s)

Really??

Definitely have to look it up now...(not that disturbing/torturous reads are usually my kind of thing, it's just I didn't have any clue apart from Disney's film, and I thought that was the source material completely...how wrong I was!!).

I'm sure other people will enjoy it, and I did appreciate its sense of outworldy-disconnect, but the execution itself was far too bizarre to keep a real interest. I'm actually surprised it even managed to make a genuine movie... >_>

Try watching "Alice on the Wall" where Pink Floyd's The Wall plays in sync with Disney's Alice in Wonderland.  It's pretty trippy and matches up quite a bit.

I've always enjoyed Alice in Wonderland, though as I've grown the meanings changed, and maybe it's a little extra nostalgia since I had been in an Alice play back in elementary school (as the Cheshire cat).

Disney's version may not be the original, but like The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, Winnie the Pooh or Aladdin, it is the version most mainstream audiences are familiar with.

That's exaactly what I said already. Even then, Disney's Alice had creepy moments. By the way, speaking of weird, if you speak french, read Patrick Sénécal's Aliss. It's all a metaphor. It's shocking alright.

well regarding the Disney version of Alice, back then when i was a small dumbass kid it didnt seem so cutesy or whatever but rather just another cartoon with lots of colors, but now when i rewatched it, it was actually pretty freaky and when i started rewatching some of other disney cartoons like Dumbo i realized they're not that innocent

Well, that's the thing, it's supposed to be scary, if you like genuine scare of a certain levels and not just F.E.A.R jump scares you'll like it but I say, it's not that scary, I used to find the first one weird but I'm more aquainted to fear then I was, so it's not that scary but definatly weird though.
