EAT THIS!: COLD COMFORTI scream, you scream, we all scream for the first-ever Ice Cream Takedown on Sunday — National Ice Cream Day. For $15, fans of the sweet treat will get a tasting cup, from which they can sample unlimited scoops from 25 amateur ice cream makers. But don’t expect just plain old chocolate or vanilla. Offbeat flavors (jalapeño, mayonnaise or olive oil, anyone?) will tantalize your taste buds.
“Homemade ice cream is so good and so much better than store-bought ice cream,” says organizer Matt Timms, the mastermind behind the popular Takedown series (past food fights include ones for chili and cookies).
But how does one combat inevitable brain freeze?
“Maybe they’ll drink their way through it,” he jokes. (There will be a cash bar.)
Don’t get iced out! It’s Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Bell House, 149 Seventh St., Brooklyn; 718-643-6510; thetakedowns.com.
